Members,

Well I’m sure for most of you it feels like only yesterday that you put your whistle away for another season and prepared to put your feet up, enjoy the rest and get a chance to take a well earned holiday and recharge the batteries.

Where did the summer go!!

After the conclusion of the football season in May there was the annual movement of referees to various categories. It is good to see Stirlingshire being represented across the senior list but disappointing that we do not have as many as we have had in recent years.  Hopefully this is just a temporary blip and our numbers will increase in the coming years.

Then there was another Wimbledon with no British success, no shock there then, and a World Cup that promised so much but became one to forgot for the team from across the border. Oh well at least three English men made the final!!

And so here we are again and for many of you, the phone will have already started ringing with pre-season friendlies being arranged across the region at all levels of football. I wish all members every success and for you to enjoy a great season ahead.

Training has started back on Tueday nights at Grangemouth Sports Centre, 7.30pm start and our first monthly meeting takes place on the 12th August at Polmont Prison college. I would encourage all members to come along to either or both and enjoy the banter and discussion with other members of the Association.

Finally on the social front thank you to those who were able to attend our “not so serious” game of 20 / 20 cricket at the end June. A great evening was had by all and one we will repeat again next year. Keep checking on the website for info on up and coming social events.
